Step 1: Fire behavior and suppression.

SMALL

  • 1,5 days.
  • Lecture based theory.
  • Unlimited participants.

  • This course delivers a very large amount of information in a very short period of time. It will expose the participants to the depth of fire behavior and fire suppression knowledge. Going above and beyond most existing courses.

The participants will leave with new information and perspectives on key topics, but most importantly a curiosity to learn more.

  • The course will cover topics like:

    • Fire dynamics.
    • Compartment fire behavior.
    • Flowpaths / airtracks.
    • Horizontal and vertical natural ventilation.
    • PPV - Positive pressure ventilation.
    • Fire suppression agents.
    • Fire suppression methods.
  • The host organization must provide:

    • Classroom.
    • Projector and screen.
    • Whiteboard.

Price: €2800.

Plus travel and hotel costs.

MEDIUM

  • 2,5 days.
  • Lecture based theory.
  • Model scale demonstrations and experiments.
  • Student interaction and exercises.
  • Maximum 24 participants.

  • This course teaches everything included in the SMALL course.
But the information is delivered by mixing theory, model scale demonstrations and experiments with interaction and exercises for the participants.

The slower pace will allow the participants to absorb the information better and turn it into useable knowledge. This course will also give valuable ideas and information for instructors wanting to teach the same topics.

Questions and answers:

How to book a course?

Contact me and I will answer all your questions, you can find my contact details here.

Generic plan for arranging a course:

  1. We look at a suitable course program that fits your needs, tweaking the examples above if neccessary.
  2. We look at your practical possibillities and limitations and again tweak the course according to those.
  3. We find dates that fit you and me.
Is it possible to combine courses?

Yes, you can combine courses in any way you like.

Is it possible to get a package deal when combining courses?

Yes, when combining two courses you get a €1000 discount on the individual prices. If you combine three you get a €2000 discount.

Is it possible to tweak the courses?

Yes, the courses above are examples on what Lars may deliver. The topics, structure and the delivery may all be changed to fit your needs.

Is it possible to also rent a training field from Lars?

It depends on the location. Lars works with several training fields around the world, and may arrange a full service course based on your needs.

Which added costs are there besides the fee to Lars?

The fee is paying for Lars preparation, travel and execution time as well as travel and hotel costs. All other needed equipment and facilities are added to your costs.

SMALL courses:
The cost to rent classroom with projector, screen and whiteboard.

MEDIUM courses:
Same as SMALL and the cost to acquire small scale equipment.

LARGE courses:
Same as MEDIUM and the cost to conduct full scale training at a training facility.

Are these instructor courses?

Yes and no.

Step 3 courses are designed especially for fire instructors.

Step 1 and step 2 courses are suited for all firefighters and officers that wants to expand their knowledge. Espacially the LARGE courses deliver many valuable ideas and a lot of knowledge which will be very useful for instructors. But the courses do not allow enough time for the participants to practice all the elements required to be a good instructor. Though, this is possible to tweak by stretching a course out over more days, which will allow for this practice to take place.

A combination of a stretched out LARGE step 1, a stretched out LARGE step 2 and a LARGE step 3 is a very comprehensive course for fire instructors.

What are the requirements on the training field for LARGE courses?

The courses can be adapted to work with most practical limitations. But it might change how well the learning objectives can be met.

Some form of rugged structure with doors and windows is required for the tactical exercises to work.

And some form of container or burn building is needed to work with fire behavior and suppression knowledge.

Who is the instructor or instructors?

Lars Axelsson, previous Lars Ågerstrand, is a former firefighter, captain and battalion chief from Sweden. Today, Lars is training firefighters all over the world.

Depending on needs, Lars may also involve some of the best instructors in the world in the course.

On which languages may a course be delivered?

Lars speaks Swedish and English.

Other languages are possible by using a translator.

Is it possible to have more than the maximum number of participants?

Yes and no. Most training could be completed with more participants if Lars brings another main instructor. But at some point, the value for each participant drops too low.

Do you do open entry courses?

Yes, from time to time I arrange open entry courses all over the world.
